Roughfirth House B&B Full Scottish Breakfast

Breakfast at Roughfirth House is a special occasion.  Served in our dining room with wall-to-wall windows overlooking the estuary, it is a truly relaxing way to start the day.  Red squirrels are frequent visitors to our dining room feeder and along with the many birds and fabulous view it makes eating there a real pleasure.

Guests enjoy local produce, cooked to order, seated at individual tables dressed in fresh, white linen.

Our full Scottish breakfast of thickly sliced bacon, locally made sausage, free range eggs, grilled mushrooms, vine tomatoes and either locally made haggis or black pudding is always a popular choice.

A selection of lighter choices is also available, including organic Scottish porridge, creamy scrambled eggs and delicious continental and vegetarian options.

Eating Out

There are many excellent restaurants and pubs serving local produce and ‘real’ ales brewed in the area.

There are two waterfront pubs a short walking distance from Roughfirth House and many guests enjoy a leisurely stroll along the coastal path to their evening meal.

With approximately fifty local businesses involved in either producing or selling food and drink, it is easy to see why nearby Castle Douglas (a 15 minute drive away) has been designated a Food Town. The vibrancy and appeal of the town lies largely in the draw of the shops, cafés and restaurants.
